Now Hiring GMs and AGMs

Gaijin, Chef Paul Virant's okonomiyaki restaurant in the West Loop, is expanding and we are looking for leaders to help us grow! We are now interviewing for experienced general managers and assistant general managers to strengthen our systems as we gear up for expansion, and to ultimately lead the new restaurants.

BACKGROUND AND QUALITIES

  • The "hospitality gene" paired with unsurpassed communications skills (verbal and written)

  • Significant FOH management experience (3+ years preferred), with strong, enthusiastic leadership skills and dedication to delivering above-and-beyond guest satisfaction

  • Proven ability to be an encouraging, effective mentor for staff and promote a cooperative team environment

  • Experience opening a restaurant, including hiring a full FOH team and spearheading/leading staff training and education

  • The ability to manage many moving parts in a high-volume, fast-paced environment, all while maintaining a focused but fun attitude

  • Passion for educating staff and guests on what may be unfamiliar (but delicious and exciting!) dishes, techniques and flavors; existing knowledge of Japanese cuisine and culture much appreciated but not required, although an enthusiastic desire to learn is

  • Experience with putting processes in place to ensure an organization is performing at its highest level

  • Financial acumen, including capacity to analyze P&Ls, and proven track record for meeting goals

  • Solid problem-solving skills, plus the flexibility and willingness to go the extra mile and step in as needed without necessarily being asked

  • Familiarity with Toast, Resy and Tock a plus
